TRAX Construction at Mario Capecchi Dr. & South Campus Dr.

UTA will replace the 20-year-old railroad curves on the TRAX Red Line at Mario Capecchi Drive and South Campus Drive. From October 4 - 13, TRAX Red Line passengers will experience services delays. Additionally, motorists traveling near the impacted area will experience road closures and detours throughout the duration of the construction project.

The Deseret News 10K Marathon will begin at the Research Park on 500 South Wakara Way on July 23, 2021. As a result, 1300 East, 500 South and Sunnyside Avenue will be temporarily closed beginning 5:30 AM. Traffic is allowed to cross over the marathon route when possible.

Beginning May 10, students, faculty and staff can request a Safe Ride or a Hospital On-Demand ride through the TransLoc app. In the near future, users will also be able to use this app to track all Campus Shuttle routes live. Our goal is to simplify and enhance our commuters’ experience by consolidating our transportation resources into one app. The TransLoc app is free and available on the App Store and Google Play.

SuperCross: Transportation Impacts

On April 24 and May 1, 2021, the Utah Sports Commission and Feld Entertainment, Inc., will host the Monster Energy AMA Supercross finals at Rice-Eccles Stadium. During this two-week span, several road closures are required to ensure proper spacing between race team vehicles along the roadway and those in the Guardsman Way parking lot and surrounding university lots.

Traffic Lane Shift on North Medical Drive

The next phase of the North Medical Drive construction project is currently underway. During this phase, commuters will notice the traffic lanes on Mario Capecchi Drive heading up to University Hospital will shift south. This impact will allow work to take place on the north side of the road.

Construction on I-80 between 1300 East and 2300 East and I-215 between 3300 South and 4500 South will begin as early as late May and continue through late 2022. Crews have started preliminary work onsite, but significant impacts and traffic changes will begin later this spring.
